The Airport Post

Hello again!
I'm currently sitting in DFW's USO, which is a nice little chill place for military people and their family members to chill during layovers. Perks of being an Air Force kid.
I guess I'm just writing this because I'm bored. And nervous. And anxious. This morning when I arrived at OKC's airport, I got that airport feeling. I don't know if anyone knows what I'm talking about when I say this, but whenever I'm flying somewhere I have a very specific feeling in the pit of my stomach. I think it's some weird combination of excitement and nerves, although that happens often and it still isn't the same as the airport feeling.
The flight from OKC to Dallas is about 45 minutes long. In case you wondered. But now I have a 5 (now 4) hour layover until my plane departs for Paris. The last time I was in Terminal D of DFW I was going on my first international trip. And first mission trip. I also saw Hulk Hogan go by while we were getting our currency exchanged, so that was interesting. But now I'm headed out on my first international trip that isn't a mission trip, technically. And I'm also alone. When I went to Cardiff, there were the iGo Global folks to guide the group around. Cambodia, I had church people. Last summer I had Dr. Carter and Dr. Franklin making sure that our awesome group was all together (shout out, haaayyy). But now I'm alone? And it's really weird. I'll meet up with one of the others studying in Orleans later, since we're on the same flight, but even then, it's weird because we are in charge of ourselves. We don't have someone telling us where to go or what to do, or calling for passport checks. That's probably what's making me most nervous.
But once I get to Orleans, I will be able to relax for a bit. Hopefully I'll sleep enough on the airplane. It's going to be a challenge not to sleep on the train. I will arrive around 3am our time (that around 10am in France), so if you want to pray for me for anything, pray for alertness. And awake-ness. At least until I'm safe in my host family's home.
Nothing interesting has happened so far. Well, except for my complimentary box of Girl Scout cookies.
Yeah. Got those. :)
I'll probably go read now. Next post will be from FRANCE!
